Paint & Body Company Doubles in Size
Boxy’s Expands With Help of SBA 504
A SBA 504 loan from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) helped one Sioux Falls company nearly double in size.
James and Stacy Miron purchased Boxy’s Paint & Body back in 2001 when James’ boss and original owner, Terry Boxdorfer, decided to retire. Boxy’s offers body work services on all makes and models of cars and trucks, as well as boats and RVs. The company also offers spray-on protective film, bedliners, and sells tires.
Within seven short years of purchase, the couple decided that the time had arrived and the company needed to expand.
“After we took over, our sales and our markets kept growing,” said Stacy.
“We initially had two buildings, totaling 7,500 square feet, which were pretty inefficient. We had to do the body work in one building and the painting in another,” she explained.
After obtaining the loan, the Mirons built a 13,600 square-foot building and purchased new equipment that included a new paint booth, repair stall, and bedliner booth.
With everything in one facility, Stacy says that the space is way more convenient and much better utilized.
“With the 504, we were able to expand our building. We now have a state-of-the-art place for our customers to come to,” Stacy said. “The loan also helped us further expand our sales and market, and we are able to provide more services for our customers.”
