The GOED is hard at work planning the 2nd Annual South Dakota Manufacturing Week, which will be held Sept. 30-Oct.3.
“Manufacturing plays a vital role in South Dakota’s economy,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner, Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “Manufacturing Week is a time of year where we celebrate those in the industry and work to garner awareness to the impact manufacturers have in South Dakota.”
The week will kick off on Monday, Sept. 29, with Tour Day. The GOED team and other officials will visit facilities across the state for tours. Select companies will be open for public tours and provide tours and an inside look at manufacturing.
Tuesday, Sept. 30 is Speak Out Day. Local civic organizations will host speakers from the manufacturing industry.
Wednesday, Oct. 1 is Media Day. Dompanies and communities will work with the media to promote manufacturing.
Thursday, Oct. 2, is Student Day. Local middle schools, high schools, tech schools and universities will host speakers to visit with students on the significance of innovative manufacturing and its economic impact, as well as career opportunities.
The week will cumulate on Friday, Oct. 3, which is also National Manufacturing Day.
“Whether you are involved in the industry, or in business development, or a member of the general public, we want to see you be involved,” said Costello.
