PIERRE, S.D. – The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) will be joined by representatives from Belle Fourche, Spearfish and Sturgis in promoting South Dakota’s energy industry at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada this week.
The conference and trade show, which runs from April 30 – May 2, attracts 300 exhibitors and more than 1,500 attendees. This will be the GOED’s first time exhibiting at the event.
“The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference will be an opportunity for those attending to develop relationships with oil and gas companies and encourage them to consider doing business in South Dakota,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner, GOED.
Energy is a key industry in South Dakota and the state’s proximity to the Bakken oil boom creates a unique opportunity for businesses in South Dakota to service the needs of the oil patch. Costello said that in an effort to jump-start South Dakota’s oil and gas support sector, the GOED recently contracted with Black Hills Business Strategy, LLC to identify areas of opportunity for businesses in South Dakota. Representatives from Black Hills Business Strategy, LLC are also participating in the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference with the GOED.
