Ground Broken on South Dakota's First Megasite

Foundation Park to Sit on More Than 800 Acres

Last month, officials broke ground on the state’s first megasite – Foundation Park. The 800+ acre site lies at the intersection of Interstates 90 and 29 and offers easy rail access, proximity to the airport and redundant electric power.

“Foundation Park is truly groundbreaking. It will give prospective companies and site selection consultants another solid reason to put South Dakota on the short list,” said GOED Commissioner Pat Costello. “As an economic developer, an asset like Foundation Park with all its amenities is a game-changer in our expansion efforts. We are now more appealing to the country’s biggest and best projects.”

The park already has its first large tenant. Logistics Buddy, a Sioux Falls-based third-party logistics provider, plans to build a 600,000-square-foot office, warehouse and distribution center valued between $50 million and $70 million.

The park was created through a partnership with the GOED, the City of Sioux Falls and Forward Sioux Falls. When full, Foundation Park could lead to nearly 8,000 new jobs in the region.
